"Three qualities are required if one is to become and artist, One must have aptitude, or the ability to acquire mastery of the art; one must have tremendous love for one’s art in order to work on it with determination, effort and concentration, and one must have imagination and creativity to develop the art along new and unknown paths."
For students seeking more professional level training than can be had in the looser structured recreational classes, REFLEX offers dance programs, a series of classes with a curriculum that explores all dance forms with a strong foundation in ballet and jazz, broadening into Modern and Pointe.
For the student who longs to pursue a career in dance, or just wants to achieve excellence for personal satisfaction, the dance program offers progressive learning in a positive, encouraging environment.
Acrobatics and tap electives may be chosen to provide a well rounded, complete dance education. Master classes with guest artists, specialty classes and an annual student evaluation with the instructors make this dance experience unparalleled.
Students in the training program are exposed to yoga classes periodically to encourage physical and mental development while also teaching them methods to combat stress and the competitive nature of dance development, and so they maintain a positive attitude, with respect and reverence for the arts and other artists.
Levels are divided by ability, both physical and mental, regardless of the student's age. Each program does some performing at local events and the students are invited to attend one competition per year if the group so desires. Placement after level one is at the discretion of the directors, but for all levels, a student must demonstrate the ability to focus, commit to the scheduled classes, and a willingness to behave in a respectful manner.
