*Note: The physical challenge presented in each class is noted by gentle, moderate or intense.
Gentle Yoga serves as a great introduction to yoga and/or is designed for students with physical limitations or who have stepped away from physical challenges for a while and need a gentle reentry to body conditioning. The class offers traditional Iyengar & Hatha yoga instruction with an emphasis on proper alignment, breathing, gentle stretching, and stress relieving restorative poses.
Our most gentle class, Chair yoga is perfect for students with physical challenges that find it difficult to get on and off the floor as required for a traditional yoga class. Exercises explore and enhance a greater range of movement while protecting the lower back and joints by easing carefully into yoga postures with chair support. Breath work and meditation are visited as well. This is a wonderful class for increasing circulation, flexibility, range of motion, balance and overall energy enhancement.
These classes offer traditional Iyengar inspired Hatha yoga formats with full sun salutations, pranayama (breathing) and a variety of balance and stretching challenges. Inversions are limited to supported poses and restorative asana positions. The instructor offers alternative poses and movement suggestions throughout the class, assuring all students can work to the level appropriate to their current development.
This practice will increase your heart rate, your strength and assist in weight loss and detoxifying with Ashtanga inspired Hatha yoga that includes longer holds, a greater range of poses, and some inversion work. Attention is devoted to breath work, proper alignment and energy channeling. Designed for students with a solid foundation in yoga looking for a more challenging practice.
Learn how to greatly supplement your existing yoga practice with gravity and inversion positions that traction the spine and joints, stabilize structural muscles and flush and invigorate the entire hormonal system. Our Om gym yoga system provides an adjustable yoga sling with attached handles to safely take your yoga practice off the mat and into the air. This class begins on the mat and graduates to the sling where the instructor offers a patient, careful introduction to the benefits of aerial yoga. Students work at their own pace and comfort level. Appropriate for beginners.
For students with a solid foundation in traditional yoga, and/or who have taken Aerial yoga 1 and become comfortable enough in the swing to try new challenges, level 2 Aerial yoga offers the opportunity for deeper stretching with gravity for assistance. As students explore the sensation of creating beautiful shapes in space, they also reap the benefits of impact free inversions, enhanced yoga postures and opening the energy pathways.
Imagine a class that is a hybrid of TRX training, body pump, and aerial yoga and you have Aerial Fitness, a unique one hour class that incorporates the Om Gym aerial swings for a fitness adventure. The class ventures beyond yoga or weight conditioning to introduce novel exercises using isometric holds and gravity to enhance muscular definition, shoulder and upper body strength, core power, enhanced flexibility, and endurance. Aerial Fitness offers a full body workout that will take your fitness to a whole new level.
Yogadance is a hybrid class that combines graceful lyrical dance, liturgical movement and yoga poses for a free flowing, artistic yoga practice. The class begins with a gentle warm-up, followed by floor progressions to explore transitional movement and basic dance skills, and then moves center stage to introduce a lyrical combination that incorporates beautiful yoga positions, dance and moving meditations. Yogadance is not a free form, unstructured movement class, but a class that explores choreographed yoga movement, creating beautiful, inspirational dance that feeds your intellect, body, and soul. The lovely result is performance worthy, artistically enriching and joyfully expressive. Best of all, it’s fun and everyone who loves to move can participate.
Tai Chi is sometimes described as "meditation in motion" because it promotes serenity through gentle movements. Originally developed in ancient China for self-defense, Tai Chi evolved into a graceful form of exercise used for stress reduction and to help with a variety of other health conditions. Tai Chi has many different styles, such as yang and wu, with each style having its own subtle emphasis on Tai Chi principles and/or methods. Our Tai Chi Flow class incorporates popular music and combined techniques to playfully venture beyond a traditional practice for an innovative, stress reducing experience.
