Teen Yoga Intensive

The Teen Yoga intensive workshop is a 6-week seminar designed just for teens. Each two-hour session includes a yoga class that teaches all the basic philosophy and introduces posture focus (asana) followed by an introduction to pranayama (breathing techniques) meditation (mental focus) as well as journaling techniques for self-discovery. Once the basics are established, we will expand the envelope and explore aerial yoga partner yoga and more. With music and material geared to the young generation, open minded teens can let go and enjoy an inspirational creative environment that urges them to explore yoga and their inner voice as the path to establishing confidence and independent thinking. 

Why Yoga for teens?
Academic stress, peer pressure, inner conflict, family frustration, concerns about the future, making choices now that influence your life direction . . . these issues and more seem to close in around young adults during the teen years when they are striving to discover their original voice and establish independence. They turn to friends for advice and guidance only to find their friends too are struggling with the very same issues, and even with a nurturing family and/or other support system, the voice a teen truly longs to listen to is their own.
Yoga gives young person clarity and helps put life into perspective. A natural approach to health and wellness provides techniques for handling stress while establishing emotional stability and inner calm. Yoga gets participants into great shape physically, mentally, and emotionally. Leave drama and confusion behind. Be calm and confident. The lessons we learn on the mat can be carried into life, positively affecting your view of the world.

What will the seminar cover?
Learn correct yoga posture focus, core philosophy & breathing techniques. Understand the difference between various yoga styles, and get an introduction to the yoga sutras as well as the chakras.

Experiment with cutting edge yoga styles, such as aerial yoga, partner yoga, and meditative movement.

Explore journaling techniques and unveil your deepest feelings to make sense of the world and your place in it. Enjoy discussions on healthy lifestyle choices and environmental ethics.
